Is 30 REALLY Time for a Mid-Life Crisis?
We’re turning 30 this year. DJ’s actually turning 30 NEXT year, but he’s 29 now, so within the next year, he’ll be 30. His best friend turned 30 a few weeks ago. We’ll call him Tony. Because that’s his name.
Tony is a fireman. We also call him Fireman Tony. He’s married with three kids. They’re 8, 4 and 4 months old. They are very cute and the 4 year old and Dylan are buddies. His wife Sarah is a sweetheart and we’re buddies as well. It’s like we’re one big happy family. Therefore, we ALSO call him Uncle Tony.
Anyway, Tony turned 30 and had an identity crisis of sorts. At least that’s what their story was when DJ, Tony & two other guys planned a trip to Vegas for last weekend. You know, because Tony turned 30 and needed to get away and let off some steam. Or something.
It reminds me of that beer commercial where the guys phone rings and he looks at his girlfriend and he’s all “So & so needs to vent” and she’s all “Okay. Go.” Because she’s concerned about his friend. And then the next scene is her calling to see how the friend is doing and the boyfriend is all “OH, he still needs to vent” and he hangs up and they’re all sitting on the couch watching porn sports and drinking beer.
It reminded me of that. Because I’m pretty sure that Tony’s mid-life crisis was JUST an excuse to get the guys together to go to Vegas. And to get away from their wives & kids & jobs for a few days. Whatever.
The original plan was that they would “crash” at someone’s house. As if they’re 21 again. As in “Dude. Hotels are EXPENSIVE. That’s money we could spend on strippers BEER. We can just crash at my cousin’s house. He has a big couch & we’ll be so drunk we won’t even notice how dirty the living room carpet is before we pass out on it.”
DJ decided they should man-up and get a hotel. You know, cause they’re all 30-ish now. They can afford a hotel. They don’t need to sleep on the floor of someone’s Las Vegas Bachelor Pad.
So that’s what they did. They got a hotel. Wanna know where they stayed? You’ll have to tune in for Part 2 (of the 3 Part Series…DJ Goes to Vegas).

yeah, 30 really is not the time for a mid-life crisis. but it is time for the “oh, crap! I’m 30 and my mid-life crisis is due in 10 years!!! dude i need a beer crisis.”
women just stock up on designer hand- bags. they last longer than a hangover.

I plan on living much much longer than 60, so, um, no – no 30-year-old mid-life crisis for me… But a trip to Vegas? Perhaps.

You’re just mean. (And, no, I’m not taking it back!) Seriously, great cliff-hanger.
Will they play poker? Because then I’m totally jealous.
I need a midlife crisis trip.

I’m guessing it wasn’t The Four Seasons. When I have my mid-life crisis that’s where I’m going. My mid-life crisis will require a lot of pampering and massages.

Stefanie-
Your kids are ALWAYS ruining my good time.
As for the font, I figured why not? It’s my blog and I like it. And as far as I can tell there’s no rule out there that blogs have to be in Arial or Times New Roman. Is there? :0)
And Daring? Hmmm…I’ll have to come up with something!
I also just hit publish on part 2 of DJ’s Trip to Vegas, the Hotel addition.

I came here by Stef’s recommend. We have a lot in common. We are both 30ish ( I am 31, and hubby just turned 30). We have 2 boys also, who are 3 and 9 months old. Also my parents live on the Central Coast, but I am stuck down here in the hell of L.A. So how crazy is that? Anyways I just read through some of your archives and I officially *heart* you.
O.k. the stalker is leaving the building now.

It is NOT a Hooters shirt. He’s smarter than that. A little bit, at least.
Thanks for the heads up on comments being closed. I have NO IDEA why that happened. I’ve fixed it!
I was beginning to wonder why no one was commenting! :0)

I confuse a lot of people.
Go here: http://www.allmediocre.com
It’s a website that promotes the “little” blogs that aren’t on AllTop. Which means it’s pretty much me, sitting at my computer, trying to get 80+ people to read each other’s blogs. :0)

Oh, and hub had a major mid life crisis around 40. I don’t have enough room (or time) to tell you all the wonderful things he did

Tell the guys that mid-life crisis at 30 doesn’t EVEN cut it. That would mean that they would live until 60. Mid-life? Try 45ish.
