I firmly believe that positive thoughts can do WONDERS for people’s healing.  A postive attitude and outlook can’t be a bad thing in any situation.  It worked for WhyMommy and it’s working for Jackie! so I’m going to call on all of you for my friend Hannah and her baby Andrew.

I mentioned Hannah in my last post, and following the update I got from her today, she’s occupying my thoughts.

Some background:  Hannah is 29/30 weeks pregnant with baby number 2, Andrew.  Her first, Emma, is 3 and is Dylan’s girlfriend.  They LURVE each other like no body’s business.  Dylan’s a typical boy and totally breaks her heart on a regular basis, though.  Little bastard.  Emma can be heard crying “He doesn’t like me” fairly regularly following a scorned hug from Dylan.  But 5 minutes after she’s gone he’s blushing and squealing like a school girl when we talk about who was here.  He’s such a player.

Anyway, Baby Andrew’s not doing well.  His kidneys are failing because his little body can’t get rid of his urine.  He has a blockage in his urethra, so his bladder is filled up and his kidneys are overworked.  His amniotic fluid levels have dropped and he’s schedule for surgery.  Unborn baby surgery.  As in, his team of cracker jack Doctor’s are going to go through Hannah, into him IN UTERO, and place a catheter from his bladder that will drain into the space surrounding him and will, hopefully, replenish his amniotic fluid and take the strain off his kidneys.

Needless to say, Hannah and her husband are worried.  And, I would imagine, scared shitless.  SO, I’m calling on you, my dear internet friends, to send Hannah & baby Andrew EVERY POSITIVE THOUGHT and WELL WISH you can muster.  They’re scheduled for surgery on Wednesday.  Hopefully it will prove successful and baby Andrew will successfully complete another few weeks in his momma’s belly, kidney strain free.

Upon delivery he will be re-evaluated and, contrary to current thinking, will hopefully NOT require dialysis or a kidney transplant.  It’s hard to believe I even typed those words.

PLEASE keep Hannah & Andrew in your thoughts.  Although we don’t hang out often enough, she’s one of the people who’s company I enjoy most and it’s breaking my heart that she’s going through this.
