I love that you did this. The more information the better. I totally agree with Fiesty Charlie about term limits. I think people are in Washington way too long and become part of the problem.

As a Libertarian, I am in a bad situation where I disagree with both candidates on most of the issues. It is frustrating to live in a free country where the major parties don't represent my views. BUT I love my country and know we have it better here then anywhere else. I always vote. But usually do so in major elections while holding my breath...

I'm new here (I actually came over via Newborn Indentity.) I love that you laid this all out for people to see & understand. I've been an Obama supporter since the summer of last year, when everyone said "someone with a name like that will never get elected." I think there's a lot of mudslinging and a lot of misrepresentation of the facts, so it's nice to see it all laid out with sources to check.
I agree with your position and that of so many of your commenters...it gives me hope that we just might have a better future to look forward to. :)

Love your blog, BTW

I don't believe in backing the president blindly - I'm not proposing anarchy by any means. But there is a reason they are servants of the people - period. It's not a dictatorship, they work for ME and YOU and YOU OVER THERE. And the ONLY way to make things better is to leave the passive-aggressive at the door and TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT FROM THEM.

Bush made more than a few innocent slip ups. I won't get started but as far as I'm concerned he lied to the American people to meet his own intentions. He didn't respect me, therefore I don't respect him. It's a give and take. McCain plans to continue down this flawed path and this is unacceptable in my opinion.

Certainly, we're stuck with whomever wins - but know that my complaints will flow just as easily whether it's a donkey or an elephant in that room come January. I'll bitch just as loudly (probably more so) if Obama takes us in the wrong direction. That's MY DUTY as a citizen of this nation - PERIOD.

That- Was- Awesome!!!! I am so impressed that you put that all together. I am so excited about this guy. I agree with all of it. I just wanted to add, I think the incentive to earning over $250K would be obvious, ummm, having more money? I have found one of the biggest ideological differences between the parties, and the two candidates, is how you feel about money and your fellow man. There are those that think "I worked hard, I earned this money, and I deserve to keep it. You can't make me give it away. If you want more money, work harder! If I decide I want to help, I will." which has some merit. but has an underlying belief that those who are less fortunate either deserve it, or it's just too bad. Sorry, life isn't fair. And there are those who think "Everyone citizen of this country deserves a certain minimum amount of support, especially those that have strikes against them for whatever reason. I am blessed with more, therefore I am willing to pay more taxes to help my fellow American. It's the right thing to do." Obviously, I'm in the second camp. People in less wealthy countries, like Costa Rica for instance, are much happier, even though their standard of living is much lower. It is because they have decided that every citizen of their country is important, so a basic minimum standard of living is guaranteed by the government. Are there wealthy people in Costa Rica? You bet. Can you become rich there if you work hard. Certainly. But everyone is guaranteed basic healthcare, and a well funded school to send their kids too. Even if they are lazy and choose not to work. Because they are a HUMAN BEING. And that counts for something to me. And it does to Barack Obama as well, which is why I am voting FOR OBAMA!!!

WOW that's a lotta info ... :)

I've noticed that for most people, it's one (or two) issues that really make the difference - either that, or no issues and they just fall under the sway of blind rhetoric. This election, the taxes thing is really jumping out (as, really, it does most elections - seems people care about money. Huh.) For me, yes, this is important.

But my other "big" issue? Seems to often be ignored. You've mentioned it (YAY you!) but - education. Science education. AND, importantly, funding for scientific research. Not just the whole stem cell issue, but funding in general. Because? We are hurting. The NIH budget has been cut, and cut, and cut again. It is actually pretty dire out here in the land of science academia, and something needs to change. And soon. Because we are already losing people - to other countries, to other industries - and we can't afford that if we want to retain our status as a world leader. Because it's NOT all about military power - it is also about the intellectual, innovative power of academia and research. And we are losing that. We are losing the top researchers we already have, and we are not educating the ones that are to come. And that is the reason I'm for Obama (well, that and I'm a bleeding heart liberal, but, you know...)
