Pirates!
Once again, I find that I’ve got NOTHING to share with you. Or, really, plenty to share with you, but no way to put any of it into words.
Except for “ARGH!”
Because after the last two weeks of dealing with sick children, and having a nice bout of stomach flu myself, I’m drained.
SO, it’s your lucky day, once again.
Comments are open for hijacking, or, as the case may be, pirating.
In case you haven’t been around these parts when comments have been open to you, you can check out previous examples here and here.
The rules are simple:
Leave a comment, as long as you’d like, about whatever you’d like. Personal attacks will be deleted. I’m pretty lenient, but I do have final say. Keep that in mind. Play nice.
Okay….GO!

My new favorite drink (Amaretto & Simply Lemonade) makes me SLEEPY. That is totally unfair!!! Aside from people doing shots with red bull chasers, why hasn’t anyone come up with a seriously energy boosting alcoholic drink?? Do I really have to go back to SoCo and Mt. Dew, ala High school???
Wow,that makes me sound like some kind of drunk, when really, I can’t even remember my last buzz….
Oh, and I’m kinda sad I didn’t pull the trigger and just decide to go to Blogher this year. I want to meet people, even though I am the suckiest small-talker ever!!

Backyardigans FTW. My toddler’s favorite TV show, meaning, the only thing he is actually interested in. When the theme song comes on, he runs over to that side of his playpen, his face lights up, and he rocks back and forth, “dancing” to the song. Our favorite episode is Secret Mission ( with “Shhh, shhh… secret; Shhh, shhh… secret agent” and the laser limbo song).
Do you like books? http://www.papervision3d.org/demos/panorama/ This is pretty darn cool.

Well, hi there, I’ve been following your illnesses and hoping you all feel better while simultaneously being a tiny bit grateful that we can’t hang out and have playdates – because if we could, I would stalk you a little and hope that you’d be my friend and drink wine with me while our kids played, which means I would totally have gotten whatever you all had.
Pgoodness is not the suckiest small-talker ever. That would be me. I’m not even very good at twitter or DM or chat.
Tonight is lovely. I have a grande decaf mocha, I just took a shower, the kids are asleep and it is honest to goodness genuine bo-ni-fideeee warm in my house (without heat running). Your other commenters now think I am the most boring person ever, but that is so exciting in the arctic tundra.
Finally, I have hard core Braxton -Hicks contractions this week and it’s so exciting. But, I don’t get it, nature. Why can these contractions be so strong and so non-painful and the real things have to be horrid and vomit-inducing? Did the cervix need nerves, really? I think the human race might have survived less pain in labor. Just a thought from a frequent-user.
That is some significant hijacking. I’m out of here! Love you, Meghan.

Hi.
I’ve been reading your blog for a few weeks now. You, Heather’s, Velveteen Mind’s, MooshinIndy’s…
All these moms have inspired me, cuz, well, even though I live in a somewhat busy ‘burb south of Chicago, I feel like a lonely working mama with no one to reach out to in sad/angry/insane/happy moments of motherhood.
Now, I have started blogging, too. And tweeting.
But, now I feel like I am talking to space.
Any words of encouragement/inspiration/wisdom for a new blogging mommy?
I mean, hey, since I can hi-jack this comment section, the equivalent of a highway billboard on a busy interstate???
Thanks!

I just lost my first comment. I think it was so boring that the computer swallowed it.
Been following you on Twitter for a couple of months now so I’m pretty up-to-date with the gnarly illnesses that have plauged your poor family over the past week. You do a great job of keeping your sense of humor! I am so glad you’re all on the mend. The pics were too cute (in that sad, awwww kind of way).
My biggest beef of the day is that it’s Memorial Day Weekend and FREEZING in SF (Arggh!). The sun hasn’t even peeked out in 2+ days (Blimey!). We spent most of the day holed up in our apt. with our 2-year old (who was surpisingly cheery which I’m totally grateful for). But, being from the East Coast, it still hurts.
I even resorted to a bad Lifetime movie with Jacklyn Smith which was surprisingly entertaining (Shiver me timbers!).
Now the kid’s in bed, the dinner’s been consumed, the dishes are done, the laundry is in the dryer…and I am going to go cozy up with Me hearties and maybe some more bad television.
Yo-ho-ho and maybe I’ll see you at BlogHer.
Thanks for inspiring a non-commenter to comment.

I’m moving in a week back to Southern California (where I’m originally from!) starting graduate school while my husband starts his residency. And I’m petrified.
How do you make new friends at 26 years old? Especially when your grad program has a median age of 23. Those are 3 significant years, trust me. 3 years of having an income, getting married and being a full fledged, independent adult.
And dude, why can’t this house pack it’s freaking self? Going from 3 bedrooms to 1 is especially frustrating, and is only made worse by a several day old insanely painful headache.
Hi, I hijacked your comments to bitch. Because I don’t do enough of it on my own blog.

Dear Hubby-how fucking hard is it to call me BEFORE you stop somewhere on the way home from work. I will never tell you that you can’t go. Well I can’t say never, but it would be rare. But just give me the common courtesy of calling before you get there, because when you call me from their home number you are so busted. And also, when I ask you to come home soon, I really want to see you as we haven’t seen much of each other this week, the answer “Yeah, I’ll see how it goes.” Is NEVER acceptable. And then bitching at me when you get home because I am pissed, telling me I should be a bigger person. Well, it still isn’t getting you any closer to me being my nice, cool, rational self. Also asking me if I’m on my period or PMS’ing-not helpful. Don’t get all pissy with me telling me how ackward it will be to talk to me about how you really should come home will be when you are already there. Because Hello!?!? We went over this already-Call before you fucking get there.
Okay, I think I feel better now. Hopefully you all feel better too. xoxo

This whole “happens to you = happens to me” thing? Gotta stop. Because now I’M sick, and I just don’t do sick very well. At all. I spent the majority of this weekend in bed, going through waaaay too many boxes of tissues. I only managed to drag myself out for the afternoon to see my college roomie, who I never get to see enough of, which was GREAT, except then I was laid back up in bed for the next, oh, 36 hours. I am out now, at work, but can already feel my bed calling to me. Because the whole headache-runny nose-sore throat-fever-chills and aches-inability to hear due to snot-filled ear canals thing? Isn’t so work-conducive. Blech.
Oh, and yes. I am at work on Memorial Day. While sick. The life of a graduate student? NOT glamorous. AT ALL. (As if the whole mountains of tissues thing wasn’t enough of an indication of that)

I can’t write this on my own blog so I’m writing it here. I can’t begin to say how thankful I am for everyone posting comments on my VU post. the nights are still really hard and when people ask how I am, I feel bad/guilty if I say that I’m upset or having a hard night, so I lie and say everything’s fine. I mean overall, yes everything is fine. I’ll survive, but sometimes it sucks and it hurts. And that’s usually at night when I’m tired but can’t go to sleep. I feel as if I’m a burden to people if I share any part of this with them. I even feel guilty talking to my therapist. I just want everything to be ok.
I’ve had a few nanny offers, and I’ve had one in SC (with a family I know and love- the wife is the person I trusted enough to tell her myself about it- by sending her the link) and it’ll get me away from him (and to a safe place with someone who knows) but I’ll still be able to e near my family. I’m worried that while I want to stay close, that maybe it’s not the best thing for me. I’m just really scared to be disowned by my family when I leave. They have started to express their opinion that I’m stupid for wanting to move/being selfish in this move. I want to get away but I’m scared to go someplace where I know no one. I just wish I knew what to do. I just wish I knew what the right answer is.
Onto less depressing things: how are you feeling? Better I hope.
