Surgery Success
The day came and went, without incident. WHOO HOO.
I thought I’d share the adventure with you.
With pictures I took on my iPhone.
~~~~~~~~~~
In the waiting room. He didn’t sit still:
Until they gave him the “I Don’t Care Medicine”
And within about five minutes, he REALLY didn’t care:
Then we got back to Grandma’s house and he watched cartoons for a bit:
And he drank LOTS of juice:
Then he started to get sleepy:
So I put Food Network on and he fell asleep:
And he slept HARD:
Then he woke up, and since he’d been feeling so well, I broke the rules and gave him food:
He liked it:
Then he played for a bit. Until he was done for the night:
And that’s the story of Zach’s Strabismus surgery.
The End.
I am so thrilled that it’s done and it went well. And dude, the he doesn’t care photo? The second one? Save that for him. He’ll think it’s a crack up when he’s older.
Your baby boy is so adorable! I am glad that it went well and that you and he made it through the day – it must have been such a stressful day for you. I love his glasses! And the sleeping-with-his-tush-in-the air picture is a sweet one.
Take care!
The first thing that came into my head seeing the “I don’t care pictures” was the song “Because I Got High”, yeah, I know he’s a toddler, but still.
My daughter had the same surgery. The first one over corrected it, and then the second one made it perfect! That was over 10 years ago, and her eyes are still straight. I hope your son’s is successful, too.
By the way — can he BE anymore cuter?? !! What a blessing.
I came across your blog through Heather’s, which I found through a friend of mine. I have Strabismus/Amblyopia as well. I never had surgery for it, but man did I struggle through a lot when I was younger. I wore an eye patch to strengthen my right eye (the one that turns in). I’ve had glasses since I was about 6 months old and went from wearing bifocals to a much lower prescription. My right eye still crosses when I take off my glasses but now it’s something I have to put effort into doing. My glasses have become sort of a comfort thing for me so I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to replace them with contacts. Anyway, I thought I’d share my story. Your little boy is so flippin’ cute in the glasses!!!
Back in the day…way back!…I had that surgery…a total of 7 times before my eyes were as straighht as they were going to get and the Dr. said no more. The last surgery I wanted done before my Sr. pics for HS were taken…turns out the pics were taken on the way to the hospital for my final surgery! Figures…ugh. I have never had any depth perception which makes some things difficult but I have been able to learn to do whatever I have wanted to do…like play a mean game of softball and drive! It just takes much more practice. Anywoo…things look like they have changed! He is not bandaged and that’s wonderful! I hope he is doing well.
